Consumer Protection
صارفین کے حقوق
Pakistan has no single federal consumer law. Each province (and ICT) runs its own Consumer Protection Act + Consumer Court. Sectoral regulators — NEPRA (electricity), OGRA (gas), PTA (telecom), PEMRA (broadcast), Banking Mohtasib — handle their respective sectors. Pick the right forum or your case will get bounced.
Key statutes
- Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2005
- Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014
- KP Consumer Protection Act 1997
- Islamabad Consumer Protection Act 1995
When to hire a lawyer
Most Consumer Court cases are pursued without a lawyer (the courts are designed for citizens to self-represent up to PKR 50,000–100,000 claims). Hire counsel for higher-value disputes, class-action style coordination, or when the seller has counsel.
