Labour & employment

Workplace law in Pakistan is mostly provincial post-18th Amendment. The big federal Act that still applies everywhere is the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010 (extended in 2022). Termination, working hours, and minimum wage live in provincial industrial-relations / standing-orders law.
Key statutes
- Industrial & Commercial Employment (Standing Orders) Ordinance 1968
- Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010 (+ 2022 amendment)
- Provincial Industrial Relations Acts
- Payment of Wages Act 1936
When to hire a lawyer
Most workplace complaints route through internal Inquiry Committees and provincial Labour Courts — no lawyer needed for filing. Hire for wrongful dismissal, gratuity disputes > PKR 200k, and constitutional petitions against public-sector employers.
